Abstract:
Fiber-reinforced composite materials remain one of the fields of industrial material science areas that receive much attention. With an ongoing research effort to decrease weight while maintaining or increasing efficiency of high-performance materials and products in industries such as aerospace, naval, transportation, construction, missile, and defense technology, this two-phase project focuses on developing a manufacturing process for producing well dispersed and organized fiber-reinforced composites filament.
Phase 1 of the project aims at developing an extensive literature review of the properties of the materials to be utilized, the appropriate instrumentation, and the ideal working conditions to enable the manufacturing of the fiber-reinforced carbon nano-fiber composite filaments. Future work (Phase 2) will focus on applying the Phase 1 developed technique to produce the said samples and eventually tested.
